What is Filler Injection?

Fillers are used as an effective treatment for deep lines and wrinkles. They can help reduce deep lines and wrinkles, fill hollows and smooth the contours of your face. Anti-aging facial fillers are the non-surgical way to achieve younger looking skin and provide volume for tired lines and wrinkles.

Fillers are temporary to long-lasting solutions administered through a few tiny facial injections on specific areas of the face. Various types of facial fillers are available; each is designed with one or several purposes, such as wrinkle reduction and lip augmentation.

How is Filler Injection Performed?

The average length of filler injections is about 10 to 20 minutes per session, depending on the individual and the amount of areas being treated. It is injected directly into the skin using an ultra-fine needle. After cleansing the area to be treated, a numbing cream will be applied. This ensures the injections administered by the qualified doctor or nurse will only cause minor discomfort.

Recovery

Filler injections require very minimal downtime, allowing patients to return to work and their normal activities directly following treatment. Yet for the first 24 hours, individuals may be instructed to refrain from strenuous activities and excessive sun or heat exposure.

Results

In general, the results from most injectable fillers are temporary; commonly lasting from a few months to about a year. This depends on the type of facial fillers or filler injections used.
Fillers replenishes lost volume for a softer more younger look and long lasting results. Much of the difference you see after your filler injection will be due to swelling; you should see the ‘real’ results after about 3 days.

Risk and Complications

You may experience some slight swelling or bruising to the area being injected and typically doesn’t last longer than 48 hours. Here is also a risk of developing lumps after the filler injections, but this is completely correctable and generally minimal. Very rarely, more serious side effects occur.
